Methodology & honesty rules
Where the data comes from. Members of Congress must disclose securities trades under the STOCK Act (2012) in periodic transaction reports (PTRs). This site reads those filings via Financial Modeling Prep and links every row to the official filing.
Amounts are ranges. Filings state a range (e.g. "$15,001–$50,000"), never an exact amount. Where this site totals or ranks, it uses the midpoint of each range and says so. A midpoint is an estimate, not a fact.
Two dates on every trade. The transaction date is when the trade happened; the disclosure date is when the public learned of it. The law allows up to 45 days. The gap is shown on every row — green within 45 days, red beyond it.
What this site does not do. It does not recommend trades, does not claim politicians' trades predict returns, and is not investment advice. Filings can be amended; late or amended filings appear when the source reflects them.
Amounts are the RANGES politicians disclose — never exact; totals use range midpoints and say so. Source: STOCK Act periodic transaction reports via Financial Modeling Prep. Data updates nightly.
